RFID, and the platform it makes possible.
RFID lets a field team read many tags at once without line of sight, which turns a count that would take weeks of clipboard work into days. It also makes recounting cheap enough to do regularly, which is the part that keeps a register accurate over time. Where RFID is not appropriate for the asset or the environment we tag with barcodes and say so up front.
Four steps, in milliseconds
- 01
A passive tag enters the reader's range and wakes up
- 02
The tag transmits its encoded data
- 03
The reader receives and decodes the signal
- 04
Data passes to the asset management software
Two tag families
Active RFID
Built in power source, broadcasts up to 100 metres, suited to high value and mobile assets.
Passive RFID
No power source, activated by the reader's signal, shorter read range.
Passive tag frequency ranges
Low frequency
125 to 134.2 kHz
High frequency
13.56 MHz
Ultra high frequency
856 to 960 MHz, up to around 12 metres
Three ways to read a site
Portable reader
A handheld transponder with a built in computer and antenna, running Windows or Android.
Fixed reader
A transceiver connected to a computer, supporting multiple antennas.
Peripheral reader
Integrates into smartphones, computers and PDAs.
Chosen for the surface, not the catalogue
Tags can also be custom made. We tag against four families: industrial, metal, electronics and furniture.
Outdoor versus indoor
Weatherproof housings for exterior assets, slim tags for indoors.
Wet versus dry
Sealed tags for moisture, wash down and humidity.
High versus low performance
Read range and memory matched to the tracking need.
Soft versus hard
Flexible label tags, or rugged hard tags for tough surfaces.
Selected per client, not sold
Ossool uses software from its partners, selecting the platform for each client's needs. Our asset tracking applications use a pin point algorithm to prevent duplicate reads across devices.
- Fixed asset management and accounting powered by RFID
- User friendly interface with visual interaction and colour indicators
- Integration with major global ERP systems and data export
The register is the foundation
Managing a facility, whether a building, a manufacturing site or the infrastructure of a real estate project, encompasses many tasks and daily activities. Building management systems, maintenance software, RFID and IoT support facility managers in maintaining assets, improving workforce productivity and keeping documentation current. RFID and IoT share the same building blocks, which is why an accurate tagged register is the natural foundation for everything above it.

Start with a scoping call.
Tell us roughly how many assets you carry, across how many sites, and what shape your current register is in. We will come back with a coverage plan, a timeline, and a fixed scope. No obligation, and no cost for the conversation.
